Amanda Brugel

Tessa Tessa Amanda AmandaPointe Claire is a sleepy area on the island in Montreal named"the West Island. There is a West Island, which is often referred to as an independent "island" west of Montreal for those unfamiliar with the area, actually is a whole area east of Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West island, though her stay was short. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa. Early ambitions were to be an experienced dancer. Then, a growing rate meant that she outgrew her dance partners. In an article published by the Toronto Star that she was 6'1" tall and wore heels. When I outgrew my male companions, I stopped. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. In Brugel's situation she was influenced by a teacher of drama at high school. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to pursue a role for the annual school production. The student tried it out, and ended up playing the main character of Anne of Green Gables. This resulted in a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000.In the 20+ years since, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions in both the small and the large screen, attracting the greatest interest when she was offered the role of Rita on the award-winning television series, The Handmaid's Tale
